What will I be doing?
A day in the life
of a mentor
Do I have what
it takes?
Is it all work and
no play?
Where might I be
staying?
Who will I be working
with?
Can I bring my family?
|

Absolutely. Even if only one member of your
family has business skills, Skills Venture can still provide
a range of mind-expanding activities for all ages. Examples
include helping out in a local primary school, teaching children
aged 8-14 years, and getting involved in conservation in the
local area. Family members can also take advantage of the
incredible national parks and sites of interest all around
the area.
The founders of Skills Venture have run a
UK registered charity, Harambee
Schools Kenya (HSK), for the last ten years. HSK works
with primary schools in the Gilgil
and Naivasha areas, providing equipment and infrastructure.
We also have more than ten years experience of running volunteer
teaching assignments, and we know that impoverished
schools in the area can really benefit. All teaching is given
in English, and provided an individual has an A-level standard
education and a passion to make a difference they can be a
brilliant teacher.
Skills Venture’s accommodation is located
in an area of outstanding natural beauty.
The campus is home to a ‘Bush School’ used to
educate visitors about the natural environment and conservation.
Professional guides can provide walks all around the surrounding
area, teaching children and adults about the plants and wildlife
around them. They can also work to help with conservation
in the surrounding property.
There is also much to do in the surrounding
area. There are more than five national
parks and wildlife reserves within 45 minutes drive
of the Skills Venture campus. Much of the Rift Valley area
is naturally geothermal, many of the incredible landscapes
can be explored on foot. In addition, there are opportunities
for rock climbing and horse riding with professional guides.
We can also tailor your business mentoring
to be family friendly, focusing for example on afternoon or
morning sessions only so that you have plenty of time to spend
on other family activities together.
